At M6, we are committed to ensuring the quality and effectiveness of our academic programs through the annual assessment of student learning. This process allows us to systematically evaluate how well our students are achieving the intended learning outcomes for their certificate and degree programs.
Curriculum maps provide a visual representation of how courses within a program align with the program's learning outcomes. These maps are valuable resources for understanding the structure of your program and ensuring that learning outcomes are addressed throughout the curriculum. Curriculum maps are organized for your convenience by campus, then by college, department, and finally by program. You can access them through the following links:
A comprehensive collection of resources to support your annual assessment efforts can be found in the SharePoint folder. This folder contains guidance documents, templates, examples, and other helpful materials.

Academic program review is a systematic process required by the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board (AHECB) to ensure the quality and effectiveness of all certificate and degree programs offered at public higher education institutions in Arkansas, including ATU. This requirement is outlined in Arkansas Code §6-61-214.
Purpose of Program Review
These reviews are conducted to:
General Review Schedule
For most academic programs, reviews are scheduled by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) and occur every 7 to 10 years.
Exception for Programs with Specialized Accreditation:
It's important to note that academic programs holding specialized accreditation follow the review schedule and processes determined by their specific accrediting body. These programs are not subject to the ADHE's standard review schedule. Please refer to your program's accrediting agency and your department/college leadership for information regarding your specialized accreditation review cycle and process.
You can find all schedules here:
Program review, whether through the AHECB process or a specialized accreditor, is a critical aspect of maintaining the overall quality of our academic offerings and supports our institutional accreditation. You can find more information about our institutional accreditors and their evaluation standards on the ATU Accreditation webpage.
If you have any questions about the general program review process or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our Assessment Coordinator, Amanda Gardner, at agardner6@atu.edu.
For questions regarding programs with specialized accreditation, please consult with your department head or college dean.
