Webmaster

As the Webmaster and Digital Strategist for ATU, Mark performs the following:

  • Works with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy designed to support key enrollment, philanthropic and institutional goals across digital platforms.
  • Leads and oversees day-to-day operations of website platforms.
  • Directs the development and production of the digital portion of university marketing efforts.
  • Supports and develops strategy for @arkansastech social media accounts, with a focus on content, promotion, engagement, and conversion strategies.
  • Provides leadership to the Web Operations Specialist, Digital Media Coordinator, and multiple student workers.

Professional History

Mark has over 40 years of IT experience in various domain spaces:

  • Information Systems (IS) and Datacenter Infrastructures,
  • IS Business Continuity and IS Disaster Recovery,
  • Various Programming and Communications Languages,
  • IS Project Management and Project Engineering,
  • Management of IS Healthcare Systems, and
  • Information Security/Cybersecurity.

Professional Certifications

  • Mark currently holds a certificate from the ISC2.org for Certified Information Systems Security Professional.  Often considered the gold standard in Cybersecurity certifications, the CISSP is accepted by some government agencies as the equivalent to a Master's degree in Cybersecurity.   • Mark also holds another Information Systems certification for Intrusion Prevention from TrendMicro; the TrendMicro TippingPoint Certified Security Expert.

Organizational Memberships

Mark is a vetted member of Infragard.  InfraGard is a partnership between the FBI and members of the private sector. The InfraGard program provides a vehicle for seamless public-private collaboration with government that expedites the timely exchange of information and promotes mutual learning opportunities relevant to the protection of Critical Infrastructure. With thousands of vetted members nationally, InfraGard's membership includes business executives, entrepreneurs, military and government officials, computer professionals, academia and state and local law enforcement; each dedicated to contributing industry specific insight and advancing national security.

About Mark

  • Mark's hobbies center around Austrailian shepherds, modern muscle cars, and touring other areas of the U.S. and Canada via motorcyle.
  • An avid creative writer, Mark set a new personal record in 2025 of writing a complete chapter of 14,910 words in 4 hours for one of his stories, and he did so with minimal editing and revising needed.
  • Having served in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Sabre, Mark is a combat-disabled veteran.  He is an active member of the Combat Veterans Association chapter 7-2.
